English Humanities (EH)


English Humanities (EH) is a topic based subject taught in Year 5 and 6 that covers the History and Geography curriculum with a strong focus on literacy skills. The pupils receive two hour long lessons a week in Year 5 and one in Year 6 and the teachers work closely with the pupils’ English teachers to ensure a close link.

This is a 5 week module exploring the Vikings, running until half term during school closure.
AutumnAncient Egypt
A study of the history and geography of Ancient Egypt. The history element will include a look at their way of life (beliefs, writing etc) and in geography emphasis is placed on the river Nile and a study of rivers in general.
SpringYear 5 EH Spring

SpringTudors
Pupils will learn about the Tudor monarchs, life in the Tudor times and look at map skills.
SummerThe Mayans
A study of the life and geography of Mayan civilisation. The geography aspect will include a study of rain forests.
