The Maiden Beech Curriculum

The curriculum at Maiden Beech aims to introduce each student to a wide range of experiences, knowledge and skill. We encourage independent learning and personal reflection and we work hard to make lessons and other activities relevant, challenging and fun.

We strive to build students’ confidence and celebrate all forms of success. Appropriate technology and teaching aids are used in harness with a variety of teaching and learning styles including role play, group work, research work and traditional ‘chalk and talk’.

You can use the links on the right to see an overview of each curriculum area.

Homework

All children at Maiden Beech do homework. Homework is planned as part of the school’s learning programme, and therefore, we regard it as a vital part of the education that the children receive. There is a carefully planned homework programme for each class and a copy of this is sent home at the beginning of each term in a Home Study Booklet. Details are also available on the Dfee website. br />

Trips & Visits

To complement the work done in the classroom we have a lively schedule of trips and visits which make use of the locality and also to places of interest further afield. Trips abroad for the older students feature and we aim to provide each student with at least one residential opportunity during their time with us.
